THE LITTLE FIREMAN
Mar 10, 2020
Bassim NGO believes the best way to keep our community safe is through fire safety education – and that starts in primary school. The NGO has collaborated with Anjum Hotel Makkah to conduct a tour for the little children at our facility.
Anjum firefighters team used their training, experience and expertise to deliver fire safety messages in a sensitive and reassuring way so children understand the importance of home fire safety without becoming worried about a fire happening in their home. Workshop sessions were conducted to teach younger children about fire safety, learn about common fire hazards. The team also talked about smoke alarms and how they keep homes safe from fire, what to do in an emergency if there is a fire, and how to call the authorities. Kids appeared to be “in awe,” as Anjum Hotel Makkah firefighters shared their expertise, showed their equipment, breathing masks, and the way they get in and out of clothing.
“We feel these visits play a big part in educating our young people of the dangers of home fires and prepare them if a fire should start in their home. The truth is that fighting fires makes up only a small part of the job. Our prevention work to stop fires and accidents from happening in the first place is just as important. Firefighters work in the community, talking to people, listening, teaching, helping, getting involved sharing knowledge and preventing fires before they start in order to save lives.” Al Tayeb Al Shengeety, Anjum Hotel Makkah Safety Manager said.
